NZ NATIONAL ORGANICS CONFERENCE

Brendan Hoare is a World Board Member of the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM), as well as a Senior Academic in the School of Natural Science, UNITEC New Zealand, and a founding director of the Journal of Organic Systems. I attended his talk on IFOAM standards and how they are being redeveloped and the state of organics and IFOAMs role in this at the moment. In my interview with him after the conference I asked him about these issues and more as they relate to organics.

Steffan Browning the Soil & Health associations spokesperson was also at the National Organics Conference and in my interview with him he gives his impressions on what happened at the conference.

1080 DEBATE

The Environmental Risk Management Authority (ERMA) recently came out with its decision to support the continued use of 1080 poison to control possum numbers. Albeit with some tighter controls on its use. I decided to get perspectives from those both for and against the use of 1080. I interviewed Kevin Hackwell from Forest & Bird for a pro-1080 persepctive and Steffan Browning from Soil & Health for an anti-1080 perspective.
