Federal Environment Minister Peter Garrett has last week announced a conservation zone over Australia’s Coral Sea, east of the Great Barrier Reef. While full protection is not yet assured, the announcement means that we are one step closer to protecting the Coral Sea in the largest marine reserve on Earth!
The Coral Sea is one of the last great refuges for marine wildlife on the planet. Large marine wildlife such as minke whales, sharks, marlin and tuna have not yet been severely depleted in the region. We now have a real chance to make an unparalleled contribution to global marine conservation and the health of the planet.
Please take a minute to sign our online petition to Prime Minister Kevin Rudd and encourage him to support the visionary proposal to establish a no-take heritage park in the Coral Sea and support Peter Garrett in furthering protection of this iconic region.

With less than one tenth of one per cent of our oceans fully protected, an Australian Coral Sea Heritage Park would leave a global legacy for future generations.
Join us and help encourage the Australian Government on this important initiative by signing this online petition today.
